Las Vegas Motorcars proudly presents this authentic 1970 Plymouth “Hemi Cuda” Barracuda with ultimate confidence! This is an authentic verified original Hemi Cuda car that has been verified by Galen Govier 3 times by all 3 of its past owners. Galen has verified that this is an actual “Hemi Cuda” and not otherwise. We have also paid Galen to do his “Extended Registry” which shows the true rareness of the car based on factory options. What Galen does is first review the VIN number and then the fender tag to determine if the options listed are true and are accurate as to the cars current state. In fact as you see the options listed on the fender data tag from the factory is exactly how the car is configured to this day with the exception of the side stripe. This car has a “hockey stick” style stripe when originally it had a thicker more pronounced strip with a trim around it. I’m told that cars which have sold for over a half a million dollars didn’t have this trim stripe because they deteriorated to the point of not being able to be used and this does not affect the value of this car. Based on what we know, this is a real 1 of 1 car! Out of Galens Registry, which accounts for 421 of the 652 1970 Hemi Barracuda’s ever produced, the following artifacts are what make this a special more collectible and desirable car. This is the sole 1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda 2 Door Hardtop to be configured with Bright Red Paint, Black Vinyl Roof Top, Black Vinyl Interior with High Back Black Vinyl Bucket Seats, A04 Radio Group, A22 Elastomeric Front & Rear Bumper Group, A32 Super Performance Axle Package, A62 Rallye Instrument Cluster, G36 Left Hand Remote Mirror/Right Hand Manual Painted Mirrors, and V5X Black Vinyl Body Side Moldings w/Pinstripe! A true one of one in the registry! NOW, we understand there are 231 un-accounted for cars out there that could be scrap metal for all we know and with that in mind the probability of finding a car out there with these options that is not in the registry is less than 5%! It has also been determined that the engine and transmission are not original to the car but to an original 1970 Hemi Cuda, just not this one. The engine has been verified by Galen to be indeed a period correct motor from an actual 1970 Hemi ‘Cuda, just not from this car originally. In fact, the motor was made just a month after the production of the car based on the production numbers which adds to the value of the car due to the fact that the motor was indeed from a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda, not some other car not in the Cuda family. The motor has been stamped with the VIN Number from the body of this car. It was done prior to Galen first inspecting the car in 2006 before it sold at Barrett-Jackson as told by him. The casting numbers on the block are original and haven’t been touched which is how we know the build date of the engine. We received the car in this condition with exception to the mechanical updates listed below. This car runs and drives incredibly as it sits. There are absolutely zero issues operationally with the car whatsoever. Even when the temperature was over 100 degrees here in Vegas this car didn’t overheat. We were told by one of the prior owners that the engine & drivetrain were completely gone through when the car was restored. Either these motors are extremely strong or they did an awesome job of ensuring the work done was top notch, or both, because the car runs so nice. There are zero hesitations with the running gear of this car, if the value wasn’t so high I’d drive it anywhere! You could drive it to any show and back or cruise it endlessly on weekends while admirers & onlookers gawk at your timeless masterpiece! The real home of this car is in a collector’s museum where it can be maintained in the perfect environment! As just mentioned, the car was restored and from what we understand was about 5-7 years ago and I’m sure at the time the car was done to like new specs. Amazingly the car is still stunning to this day! There are a few imperfections on the paint which is understandable for a car that isn’t arriving 100% off the rotisserie. There are a few spots on the paint where it is raising in sporadic areas and other than that the paint is strikingly beautiful. I wouldn’t say this is a 100 point concourse car but I would say it’s a really nice strong running collector car that is one to be highly proud of. As you will read below we have had a muscle car guru go through the cars operability to ensure mechanically the car is sound. We try very hard to go the extra mile and represent our cars to the best of our ability. We also welcome any and all inspections prior to bidding on the car. If you have any questions regardless of how small or big they are please ask. If you bid and win we expect you to pay as you’ll expect us to sell you the car and not to someone that calls 5 minutes after the auction closes offering to pay us more! Our 100% positive eBay feedback is that way for a reason and we are currently still selling cars, not filling our feedback buying small trinkets like other Dealers! We sell high end & exotic/collectible rare cars with excellent remarks, please have a look at the high end cars & exotics we are selling! Please make sure when comparing cars that you compare Feedback, mileage, condition and options! I’m sure you work hard so its time to make yourself happy and enjoy life! Here’s your chance…Please call us with any questions. Thank You and Good Luck!
While in service we did a full inspection of the car to ensure new owner satisfaction. During our inspection we noticed that a few items needed some attention. Instead of selling you a car with issues we took care of it! We spent nearly $6,000.00 conducting the following updates to the car;
We installed a new period correct OEM battery and a new voltage regulator
We installed a new fuel pump sending unit
We changed & flushed all fluids including new oil & filter
We serviced the air filter, it has a reusable K & N filter
A new water pump and radiator cap were installed
A new power steering pump was installed
New valve cover gaskets were installed along with reconditioning of the valve covers
New sparkplugs were installed with new sparkplug/valve cover oil tubes & seals
A front end rebuild was done that included new ball joints, tie rods, bushings and complete front end alignment
A front end brake job was done that included rebuilding of the front brake calipers, re-surfacing of the front brake rotors and new wheel bearings, races and seals were installed
A rear brake job was done that included new rear brake drums, shoes, wheel cylinders and hardware kit
New rear axle seals, rear axle assembly gear oil with limited slip differential additive were installed with resealing the rear differential cover
After the servicing was done we took the car to Las Vegas’ number one Exotic/Classic car detailer for a complete color-sanding of the exterior paint with buff along with a full detail of the entire car! This car is ready for a show or to be rolled into your museum to display!
The Plymouth Full Factory Warranty expired somewhere back in 1970-71. The cars came with a 1 year/12 month Warranty. We are selling the car as is and based on what the contents of this description holds, no more, no less. Again, inspections are more than welcomed before you bid.
Currently this car needs absolutely nothing! We had no budget in making the car right. Our only concern was to make sure the car was worthy of representing for the next collector out there who wants not only a nice looking car but also a nice operable car with no mechanical problems. With nearly 40 years combined classic, highline and exotic sales & service experience we know the intricate details in which to inspect all of the cars we sell. If you’ve seen our other cars you know how extensive of a job we do to accurately represent the condition of the car and pass on what we know.
